These past few years my wife and I have been working with students in various yeshiva/michlala programs helping organize places for them for Shabbat and Chagim. We have been in close contact with the Anywhere in Israel Organization (based in Kochav HaShachar). During this period, we have personally hosted more than two hundred students and helped placed at least a further two hundred at different homes. We have learnt from this experience that many students have no close relatives (or religious ones) in Israel or a comfortable “home setting” outside of the yeshiva/michlala. They feel a need for a “Home away from Home” with a family atmosphere.

For the past year our base for a “Home away from Home” has been Moshav Maon. Together with the Moshav my wife and I have decided to try and provide this “Home away from Home” for students who need a warm atmosphere and an alternate family to care for them as parents care for their children. We want to make this possible by offering an “adopting” Yishuv and “adopting” families for whoever feels such a need. For the families of Maon, the mizvah of “Hachnasat Orchim” is a big zechut.

As a first step in this direction, we would like to extend a warm invitation to those interested in spending a Shabbat with us. We ask for your help in passing on this information to the relevant students and staff. We hope that this connection with Moshav Maon will fulfill a mutual need and provide a Truly Israeli Experience that they can take with them as a steady building block for their future lives.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Eli Janovsky
